Its Hard Work But It's Part of My Job!

One of my favorite things to do is go walking at night with Mommy after dinner. She gets her sneakers on, grabs my leash and we hit the sidewalk! What many do not know is that this is not just an exercise session or a bathroom walk. This is a doggie ritual of much importance to the world!

Of course, the first thing I do when I go out is stick my snout in the wind and get the latest news on who’s been where and what they left behind, if anything. This is essential, and yet mommy insists on interrupting my a-roam-a-therapy session with her prods for me to stop running and slow down!

This is my neighborhood watch time, which is serious business. I am monitoring the entire street for friend and foe; all mere steps from my front door. In fact, I used my bulldog superpowers just the other day when I eyed some scary looking boxlike object at the end of our neighbor’s driveway. Without hesitation, I rushed at the offender, and sniffed it with intent of letting it know I knew it was an intruder! Mommy kept saying it’s just a trashcan, but what she doesn’t realize is how dangerous this ‘trashcan’ was before I rendered it harmless.

In the course of our nightly walk, what Mommy doesn't seem to understand is that I cannot just poo in any old place. Sniffing for the perfect spot takes time. It's a precise decision and cannot be rushed. So, I continue patiently with my efforts to train Mommy! She's more stubborn than this old dog by far.

Nightly walks, proper poo spots, and defenders of the universe are all fine arts. It has taken time, not to mention some of the best genetics to hone these skills that are far superior to those of a human. While Mom may never understand, you can feel safe knowing that I and other evening guardians are out and about patrolling neighborhood streets all over the country to keep the world safe from these dangerous intruders that humans like to call 'trashcans' lurking at the end of driveways.
